March Against HungerMay 2 is coming quickly. So what's happening on May 2? Actually this is going to be a Sunday full of activities, but if you're interested in an easy and fun social action project, please join the temple team in the Walk Against Hunger to support the Connecticut Food Bank (CFB). The walk raises funds to benefit more than 650 food-assistance programs throughout Fairfield, Litchfield, New Haven, New London, Middlesex and Windham counties. Chair (to sit in) is NeededWe have received a request for a chair for a 60 year old orthodox women with cerebral palsy. She is stuck in a wheelchair, even in her house. Sitting in a wheelchair all day long is actually bad for her rehab back to walking with crutches. If she's in a chair, she'll have to get up to go to the bathroom, to have lunch, or to move around her apartment. What she needs is a chair with arms that would be comfortable to spend the better part of a day in. A used serviceable chair of any color will suit the purpose, but it should not be a rocker, but something that is fairly firm. If you have a chair that fits the description, please contact Diane Kaplan at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Thunder's Pantry

We are organizing a new project to support Thunder's Pantry to collect dog and cat food for distribution through DESK. DESK decided to start this collection after noticing the significant number of guests who either give their own food to their pet companions or find themselves with no choice but to bring their pets to shelters for lack of pet food. In either case, both people and animals suffer. Jeannie Marie May, who is DESK's director of operations, asks for dry dog (small bags better), and wet & dry cat. You will find a box for this collection in the back hall.
